Introducing: Stuff!
Welcome to the twenty-fourth Love Thy Library post! I’m excited to share a new project closely aligned with this Substack—an extension of my ongoing love for sifting through archives and books to save imagery and create compositions, collages, and crops.
For years I’ve hoarded hundreds (maybe thousands?) of found images that have sadly collected digital dust in unsorted folders. In 2020, when the idea for LTL emerged, so did another: to share these images—out of context—in some organised way. Five years later, thanks to an art fair deadline (Press Play is this weekend!), I finally made it happen.
Introducing Stuff!—a magazine and creative resource of found images, all collected from their original sources rather than secondary vision boards like Pinterest or Are.na. It’s a testament to the hours spent turning pages and scrolling archives in hopes of discovering something that gets me excited!
Long story short, if you love looking at stuff like me, you’ll love this visual page-turner ^.^. Enjoy a selection of spreads below. If you’re interested in seeing more—there are 120 pages(!!!)—you can purchase a copy here. The first edition is a limited run of 50.
If you’re in New York this weekend, come say hi (Ok Books) at Press Play at Pioneer Works! It’s an art fair featuring 130+ exhibitors, plus talks and other entertainment, Sat and Sun from 12-7 pm. Note: Saturday is ticketed ($10 I believe) and Sunday is free admission with registration. Come see Stuff! IRL!
Thank you for being here LTL community! You bring me joy <3.
Title: Stuff! Issue 01
Author: Lucy Dellar
Year: 2025
Publisher: Ok Books
Loaned from: My shelf
The elements of this book that excite me include the administrative folder (the perfect shade of grey), the coloured glass and the small type, the ‘received’ stamp centered on the image, the paper bag clock (!) beside synchronised swimmers whose arms mimic clock hands, the vibrant green paired with her red hair, the handwritten note above her, the stripes and colours of the tennis girls, the overall design of the Bruce lighting catalogue (love that pink), the brick pattern and textured linoleum, the shared symmetry of the tree drawings and trophies, how the backdrop of the trophies looks like an overcast sky, the busy legs next to the simple calculator, the orange sock and orange button, diagonal stripes echoing the wrapped cord, the placement of the woman’s hand and her painted red nails, and the dainty apron next to a dainty curtain.
If you choose to share the content from this newsletter, by all means! But please give credit where credit is due :-).
See you in a fortnight!
